My top 10 Sustainable products for 2021 (so far!)
Just a little run down of my favourite ethical and sustainable products! I find that these everyday items are the easiest to change when you start adopting a more sustainable lifestyle. Next time you need to replace something consider a more sustainable product, it could end up saving you a fortune in the long run and they’ll last way longer as most of them are reusable! Guilt free treats that keep on giving ;)
SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER BARS
My favourite sustainable buy to replace plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles! I got mine from Ethique and I LOVE them, their bars leave your hair so shiny and soft and they smell great! One bar equates to 3 plastic bottles so you get your money’s worth as well. I particularly love this brand as they donate a percentage to charity, plant a tree with your order and it comes in plastic free packaging – what’s not to love?!
We all know how much plastic waste tampons and pads produce and finally there’s more sustainable solutions on the market. I found period pants one of the easiest and most reliable replacement to use but there's lots of options out there. Everyone’s different and if these pants aren’t for you there’s plenty of other sustainable options on the market such as moon cups and reusable pads.
A simple, cheap alternative to replace your plastic toothbrush and FINALLY they’ve started popping up in local supermarkets to make the change even easier. Or if you prefer shopping online check out this small business goBambu, 10% of their profits also go to charity!
Replace disposable plastic razors with reusable ones! There’s plenty of different safety razors on the market for men and women but I personally love the ethos behind Estrid, it’s a subscription service you can stop at any time and you get a beaut steel razor to brighten up your bathroom.
Masks aren’t going anywhere let’s face it, so it’s time to ditch the single use and treat yourself to a reusable one, there’s plenty of masks on Etsy to choose from and you can support a small business in the process – win, win!
This trend happened a while ago so if you don’t have a reusable water bottle where have you been?! A simple solution to bottled water.
Often have leftovers in the fridge? Imagine never having to buy or fiddle with cling film ever again, dreamy…or maybe I’m that sad…Wax wraps are reusable coverings for your food and they come in lots of different styles to suit your kitchen.
79% of plastic bags end up in either the ocean or landfill, there’s no need to use single use bags for your shopping or produce, treat yourself to some tote bags to accompany you on your shopping trip.
ECO FRIENDLY PHONECASE
There are more phones on the planet than people, you can imagine the waste produced from old phone cases and the affect this can have on the environment. There's plenty of eco-friendly biodegradable cases out there so it’s worth considering this when you upgrade your case.
This may be a harder habit to break for most but it’s so important from a sustainability perspective as well as an ethical standpoint. Invest in sustainable clothing or shop second hand, don’t give your money to corporations who use slave labour! These clothes don’t tend to last and you’ll end up spending so much more money replacing poor quality items.
